Community Acupuncture

We offer acupuncture in a group setting, also known as “community acupuncture.” This set-up makes it easy for friends and family to come in together for treatments, many patients find the group setting comforting, and the collective energy in the treatment can make individual treatments more powerful.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

In addition to acupuncture, your acupuncturist might suggest trying an herbal remedy or formula based on traditional Chinese medicine. All of our herbal medicine comes from reputable manufacturers. Brief herbal recommendations can often be incorporated into the time you normally see your practitioner for acupuncture; in this case, if you decide to try using the herbal remedy, we would just charge you for the cost of the product in addition to your regular acupuncture treatment payment.

In most cases, a separate herbal consult is recommended; these appointments can be made using our regular online scheduler by selecting “Herbal Only” or “Herbs Plus Acupuncture.” Prices for your first herbal consult are $25-$55 sliding scale, and follow-up herb-only consultations are $10-$40 sliding scale. This does not include the cost of the herbal remedies, which we try to keep as low as possible.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires a special certification for acupuncturists who will also be prescribing herbs. Right now, Oren “Ren” Pilinger is the licensed herbalist on staff.

Moxibustion

On rare occasions, we send patients home with a topical herbal treatment called moxa. You will be provided with printed instructions on how to use the moxa, and we ask for $2-5 to cover the supply and printing costs for this treatment.
