Why Sustainers?

Planned monthly donations are vital to the well-being of BAP, for so many reasons! They allow us to plan our budget, ride out bumps in the road, and show potential funders how much our community values our work.

Help Us Root

Monthly gifts let our neighbors who value BAP commit to us, and in turn let us commit to our neighborhood. As the forces of displacement continue to hit Boston hard, monthly donations let us budget and plan to pay our rent and our staff, even when so much about our city is in flux. They let us plan to keep being here to keep you healthy.

Help Us Live

Monthly donations allow us to ride out the inevitable bumps in the road–a month full of blizzards, or the illness of a staff member. This means that rather than scrambling to stay afloat when a problem hits, we can keep focusing on giving the care that you, and the rest of our community, count on.

Help Us Grow

When we have monthly donors, it helps us get grants to build new programs, try new things, and make a more comfortable space for your community acupuncture. Foundations and granters see our support from the community, and are more likely to give us additional money to continue the work that our donors clearly value. This could mean that we can provide new forms of care for you, or that we can reach more of our neighbors with additional programming.

By donating $7 or more per month, you can join our Sustainers Circle. This gives you first dibs on all new products and classes at BAP, a quarterly newsletter about our community outreach, and an annual Q&A with BAP’s lead acupuncturist. Feel good for a good cause: 4th Friday Fundraiser for REJ Forum of Hyde Park

Community acupuncture treatments at Boston Acupuncture Project (74 Fairmount Ave, Hyde Park) are “by donation” on Friday, January 27, 2023 with 50% of proceeds benefiting Hyde Park’s Racial Equity and Justice (REJ) Forum.

The REJ Forum is a “series of structured and inclusive conversations about racial equity and justice, intended to deepen the ongoing discourse, and spark and fortify impactful action that result in equity and justice for all residents; the priority is the Hyde Park community and the reach is all of Boston.” Learn more on their website: https://westfhcommunity.org/racial-equity

Why Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a natural, holistic treatment using sterile, single-use, hair-thin needles inserted into specific points on the body. Since acupuncture helps the body heal itself, it can be used for a wide variety of health challenges alongside conventional treatment, including pain relief, stress relief, and so much more. Most people find the treatments pleasant and relaxing.

Putting the “Community” in Community Acupuncture

Boston Acupuncture Project (BAP) provides individualized acupuncture treatments in a peaceful group setting, also known as “community acupuncture.”

BAP’s practitioners, all licensed by the Board of Registration in Medicine in Massachusetts, have provided acupuncture to over 950 individuals in the past 4 years. “By offering relief from pain, stress, and isolation, we aim to contribute to the well-being of individual people, and the strength of our community as a whole.”

In this spirit, BAP hosts monthly 4th Friday Fundraisers, partnering with local justice organizations, raising funds and awareness. (If you know an organization we shoulder partner with, please get in touch!)

Book your visit online at BostonAcupunctureProject.org or walk in from 4:00-6:00 PM on the 4th Friday of the month. Suggested donation: $20-$60.

Appointments are strongly recommended and face masks are required.

In 2021, the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act permits increased tax breaks for charitable donations:
• If you take the standard deduction, the Act allows for an “above the line” charitable deduction of $300 for individuals and $600 for couples filing jointly for cash charitable contributions made during 2021.
• If you itemize your deductions, you can claim a charitable deduction for up to 100% of your adjusted gross income for cash charitable contributions made during 2021.
