In 2021, the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act permits increased tax breaks for charitable donations:
• If you take the standard deduction, the Act allows for an “above the line” charitable deduction of $300 for individuals and $600 for couples filing jointly for cash charitable contributions made during 2021.
• If you itemize your deductions, you can claim a charitable deduction for up to 100% of your adjusted gross income for cash charitable contributions made during 2021.
